Tips for Fall Fitness

The weather’s cooling down, leaves are changing colour and you might be thinking it’s time to put your gym bag away for a few months. While it may be a little chillier during the Fall, it’s also prime time to get outside and take your workout with you.

Keep building strength and endurance all year round. And remember— the new season provides you with another opportunity to change up your workout and keep your body challenged! Dive into Fall and get ready to rewire your routine for the great outdoors. Here are a few tips to get your started:

Head to the Playground

Bring out your inner kid and find a playground next time you’re out for your autumn run. These scholastic fun zones give you an opportunity to get creative with your workouts. Monkey bars, swings and platforms are yours for the taking, meaning you have new equipment to work with and new muscles to fire up. Play while you amp up your athletic abilities!

Step it Up

While you’re out exploring natural terrain, keep your eyes peeled for a park bench, set of stairs or some big rocks. These earthly platforms are the perfect place to whip out your step ups. Put your glutes and quads to work by stepping on and off the platform of your choice, increasing your pace as you go.

Hike it Out

One of the best ways to soak up that mentally-boosting Vitamin D, while improving your cardiovascular health is to take up hiking this season. Get your dose of fresh air and take advantage of all the natural landscapes available for your best workout experience. Find a big hill and make it your sprinting zone. Plus, recent study shows that getting out in nature for exercise is vital for mental health, especially in the increasingly urban world we live.
