5 Habits of Highly Effective People

We all seem to be busy every day but are we actually being effective? The dictionary definition of effective is “successful in producing a desired or intended result”. Learn 5 tips on how to become more effective every day.

1.       Habit 1: Be Proactive

This means taking responsibility over your own life and not blaming others for what goes wrong. Proactive people recognize that they are "response-able”, they don’t blame genetics, conditions, weather etc. For example: blaming your weight gain in your genetics.

Focus your time and energy on things that you can control.

2.       Habit 2: Begin with the end in mind. Set-up goals.

Think about where you want to be in a year, two, three etc., and take small steps towards your goals. If your ladder is not leaning against the right wall, every step you take gets you to the wrong place faster.

3.       Habit 3: Put first things first

To live a more balanced life, you need to recognize that not doing everything that comes your way is sometimes okay. All it takes is realizing that it's all right to say no when necessary and then focus on your highest priorities.

4.       Habit 4 – Think win-win

Be nice to others and adopt a “win-win” mentality. Win-win sees life as an opportunity for everyone to win instead of a competition. Win-win is a frame of mind that constantly seeks mutual benefit in all human interactions.

5.       Habit 5 – Take care of yourself

This means preserving and enhancing the greatest asset you have – YOU. Take care of yourself by spending time learning new things and have a balanced life: physical, social/emotional, mental, and spiritual.

Physical: Nourish your body with whole foods, exercise and sleep 8 hours a day.

Social/emotional: Make time to connect with others and socialize.

Mental: Learn new things every day.

Spiritual: spend time in nature, meditate, pray etc.


Feeling good doesn't just happen. It is a process that requires you to spend time on yourself and evaluate if you are being busy of effective.
